Important Dates:
8.31.23    Packages are due to department heads – contact your department head for what is required
09.7.23     Full packages are due to the Award Review Group – department heads submit nominations (up to 1) – nominees to email materials to Jeff Joines and Selina Williams
09.21.23  Award Review Group selects college nomination; all nominees are notified; comments and suggestions on package are due to the college nominee
10.5.23    Final package is due to the dean’s office – nominee to email it to the dean’s EA
10.11.23   Package is due to the university – Dean’s EA will submit

Award Information: This award is the most prestigious award given to faculty for teaching excellence. The Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching was established in 1993 to underscore the importance of teaching and to encourage, identify, recognize, reward, and support good teaching within the university.

Criteria and Eligibility
To be considered for the Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching, the nominee:

  • Has not been a previous recipient of the University-level Board of Governors Award
  • Is tenured
  • Has taught at NC State for no less than 7 years
  • Is a recipient of the Outstanding Teachers Award
  • Is teaching in the academic year of nomination
